A Message from our CEO: Prioritizing learning & development to ensure an exceptional client experience

Motion’s CEO Sue Gilpin shares what Motion has planned this fall to prioritize learning and development for our employees and care partners in support of creating an exceptional experience for our clients. Sue is pictured centre wearing a black shirt and surrounded by Motion colleagues and Motion Client Ambassador Brianna Seewald in front.

September marked the return of our industry-leading Motion Rehab Expo series – with events already completed in Kelowna, Coquitlam, Victoria, and Nanaimo, BC and upcoming in Courtenay, BC, Lethbridge, Alberta, and London, Sudbury, and Hamilton, Ontario. The Motion Rehab Expo is a complimentary full-day education and networking event that brings together our care partners, employees, and device manufacturers to share in the latest and greatest in mobility and accessibility equipment; equipment such as wheelchairs and wheelchair seating, homecare beds, walking aids, power lift recliners, mobility scooters, bathroom safety items, stairlifts, devices specific to kids, and so much more.

As part of our vision to make life accessible for everyone, not only do the Motion Rehab Expos support knowledge growth so that our employees and care partners can provide the best equipment possible to meet the unique needs of each individual client, but they bring education directly into the communities in which we live and work – creating accessibility across all planes.

In addition to providing equipment education for occupational therapists, physiotherapists, long-term care professionals, funding administers, and others through round robin presentations from manufacturers throughout the day, each Motion Rehab Expo kicks off with an accredited course for attendees to take their education even further.

In 2023, Linda Norton, M.Sc.CH, Ph.D., OT Reg. (Ontario), an Occupational Therapist and Motion’s Director of Learning and Clinical Education, returns to present on the topic translating clinical assessment findings into compelling funding justifications; with guest co-presenters in select cities. Why is this topic important? Providing those who prescribe equipment for our clients with the right tools to explain in a funding application why a certain device and customization is critical for a client ensures that our clients receive funding approval as quickly as possible. Accelerated funding approval means that our clients get their equipment sooner in support of their quality of life.

Education both within Motion’s network of equipment experts and for our care partners is a key component of our commitment to providing an exceptional client experience. We look forward to welcoming our hundreds of individuals to Motion Rehab Expo events across the country as we continue to learn and develop together in support of our shared clients.
